Alberta Venture FAST 50 – 5 Years in a Row

In business, next to profit, growth is everything. Without growth you lose flexibility. You lose chance to seize special opportunities, and you will struggle to create better jobs and career growth that your employees deserve for the hard work they contribute.

In fact, one of our company’s corporate values, is “To create opportunity through GROWTH and fair profit.”

For this reason, and not as much because we enjoy the public recognition; I am proud that we have again been named to the Alberta Venture Magazine’s FAST 50 list of Alberta’s 50 fastest growing companies.

I am especially proud that this is our 5th consecutive year on the list. In fact, out of the five years, this year was our highest ranking at number 3. It gets harder, as you can imagine, as the numbers get bigger and the challenge of compounding works against us.

Of course it’s impossible to have done any of this without our amazing team, and the trust and continued committment of our customers.

As a tech company in Edmonton, our growth challenges have not been insignificant. Most of our clients are based in National and Provincial capitals, and it goes without saying that being based in Toronto, Ottawa or Washington DC would make us more competitive in the eyes of some potential customers.

We don’t belabour this, and in fact we are proud in spite of it. As this article recognizes, with some great comments from our good friend Micah Slavens at Lift Interactive, this City is making a name for itself.

The article accurately states:

.. but the definitive story in this year’s Fast Growth 50 list remains the flowering of Alberta’s tech sector. Nowhere is that more evident than in Edmonton, where the vast majority of the tech companies on the list are located. The success that these companies have enjoyed is in large part a product of the city’s collaborative and collegial atmosphere, and it’s one that Lift Interactive’s Micah Slavens thinks reflects the nature of the city itself. “It’s always had this indie charm to it, and we tend to like to get together and talk about stuff,” he says. “Collaboration works, and I see more of that in Edmonton. We all just seem to get along.”

Congratulations to the other Edmonton companies named on the list. We’ll have a hard time making the list again, but trust me when I say we will work damn hard to do so.

NOTE: Also, we will be announcing a much needed new branding package in a month, and as one of my 10 faithful readers, I am happy to give you a sneek peak at our “Brand-Book” and new brand. Thanks to three great Edmonton companies, Incite Marketing, Epiar, and Lift Interactive who are all an important part of our upcoming announcement.
